MSPCA Poster Medal

This gold medal was awarded as a prize in the annual poster competition held by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) and the American Humane Education Society (AHES). Its recipient, Arnold Johnson, was awarded the medal in 1936 for his winning poster design. Mr. Johnson recently donated this medal to the MSPCA Archives project.

  1. Hello my name is Robert Starcher and I recently found one of these metals in a house I purchased in Seattle Washington. The metal I found is identical to the one in your pictures and still includes the original box. My question is, is this metal solid gold? I was thinking of donating the metal to my local Humane Society for the sheer fact I think they would enjoy it.
